A drug detection dog will be carrying out searches on people queuing to get into nightspots in a Cumbrian town.
The four-legged recruit will target the Barrow area in the run-up to Christmas and anyone caught with drugs will be asked to leave the queue.
They also face being prosecuted for possession and will receive a life-time ban from the premises.
The dog handler will also wear a headcam to record footage which could be used in evidence.
Sergeant Mike O'Hagan said: "The aim of this operation is to disrupt the misuse and sale of illegal drugs at nightspots in Barrow.
"We want people to be responsible, enjoy themselves and respect one another this Christmas."
A sniffer dog will be on duty every Friday and Saturday night throughout the rest of December. BBC news
