People foods that you should not feed to your dogs

Some of the foods we eat can be toxic if it is given to your dog. The ASPCA Pet Poison Control Hot line receives thousands of calls from dog owners who fed their animal "people food." Over half of the calls involved dogs who ate chocolate, which is toxic to dogs, because it contains theobromine. Baker's cocoa is the most toxic chocolate to dogs because it has the most theobromine of all the chocolates.One ounce of bakers chocolate can kill an average size dog.

sugarless gum

Other foods that are toxic to dogs include avocado, raisins, grapes, chewing gum and sugarless candies containing xylitol, caffeine, walnuts, macadamia nuts, and mushrooms, among many others.

Try not to leave these kinds of foods laying around where your dog could get a hold of it. I used to feed my dogs grapes and I didn't have a clue anything was wrong with it. I also gave my dog a chocolate chip cookie before I ever heard any people food could be dangerous. I had to take her to the vet on a weekend because she was vomiting and wouldn't eat or drink. The vet asked if I gave her people food. I said she had a cookie but the vet didn't tell me chocolate was bad I was told not to give her any of our food ever. I was only supposed to feed her dog food.
