Dogs Rules for Christmas

                                                                                                                                                                          1. 1. Be especially patient with your humans during this time. They may appear to be more stressed-out than usual and they will appreciate long comforting dog leans.

2. They may come home with large bags of things they call gifts . Do not assume that all the gifts are yours.

3. Be tolerant if your humans put decorations on you. They seem to get some special kind of pleasure out of seeing how you look with fake antlers.

4. They may bring a large tree into the house and set it up in a prominent place and cover it with lights and decorations. Bizarre as this may seem to you, it is an important ritual for your humans, so there are some things you need to know:

a. Don't pee on the tree

b. Don't drink water in the container that holds the tree

c. Mind your tail when you are near the tree

d. If there are packages under the tree, even ones that smell interesting or that have your name on them, don't rip them open
e. Don't chew on the cord that runs from the funny-looking hole in the wall to the tree

5. Your humans may occasionally invite lots of strangers to come visit during this season. These parties can be lots of fun, but they also call for some discretion on your part:

a. Not all strangers appreciate kisses and leans

b. Don't eat off the buffet table

c. Beg for goodies subtly

d. Be pleasant, even if unknowing strangers sit on your sofa

e. Don't drink out of glasses that are left within your reach

6. Likewise, your humans may take you visiting. Here your manners will also be important:
a. Observe all the rules in #4 for trees that may be in other people's houses. (4a is particularly important)

b. Respect the territory of other animals that may live in the house

c. Tolerate children

d. Turn on your charm big time

7. A big man with a white beard and a very loud laugh may emerge from your fireplace in the middle of the night.

DON'T BITE HIM!!

Merry Christmas to you All!! and be kind to your Pets. The World's Ugliest Dog and a bit of Strange Facts

The average dog is a nicer person then the average person. The woman who bit her husband to death doesn't deserve to be categorized as a dog or a bitch. Even dogs wouldn't do what she did. Woman bites hubby to death after he turns down sex. Strange huh? I heard about this through the grapevine! Oh and the World's Ugliest Dog to me is rather CUTE .. I think he is sticking his tongue out and the person taking the picture. Smile.. Now please do not leave here without leaving a small donation to help feed and shelter stray dogs we tke in and care for open your hearts and your pockets and give a few dollars you will feel good about helping these helpless dogs who cannot speak for themselves.. Dog Poop led to Mans Arrest

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Dog isn't this man's best friend. Josue Herrios-Coronilla, 18, drove his black Camaro on the wrong side of the road Wednesday and crashed into the yard of man who owns four dogs, police said.
Police found crushed bushes, a damaged fence, an inoperable car - and a fresh shoe print in a pile of dog feces.

Following an odoriferous trail down the street, Sgt. Dale Gunter noticed a white van driving toward him. When he asked the passenger to step out, he noticed the smell of alcohol on the man's breath and evidence all over his shoes.

Herrios-Coronilla was charged with driving while impaired and drinking underage and released on $1,500 bail. He could not immediately be reached for comment.  Be sure to leave a small donation to help fight against animal cruelty. Also sign into my Googles Friends Connect and show your our friend.

Choosing the Right Dog Toy for your Dog

If you can give your dog a dog toy before you leave the house then they will be less likely to be destructive and chew your furniture. Dogs do get bored very quickly and just as you will need to keep your brain motivated so do they Bored dogs can be very bad and they will become more likely to destroy their surroundings. Buying them dog toys is the best way to keep them entertained.  No matter what age they will appreciate having something to play with both when you are there and when they are on their own. Dog toys are a great way to encourage your dog to play and can help with training and discipline issues..         Although dog toys are great you need to understand that your dog needs attention from you as well. You should try to buy your dog several different dog toys so that they can play with different ones. There are many different dog toys for you to choose from and which ones you select will depend on the type of dog you have.

If you have a very small dog then buying it a very large ball or toy will be pointless and the dog will become bored with it very easily. You can buy some very good motivational toys which are designed to give your dog a treat when they work out how to dispense the treats. These are excellent for dogs that bore easily and hard wearing toys are recommended or you will be replacing them often. If your dog likes to destroy their toys then you will end up spending a fortune if you buy cheaper less destructible ones. Although cheaper options may seem better the more expensive ones are made from better materials with dogs in mind.

Squeaky toys may seem like a good idea when you are stood in the pet store but imagine when you get home and your dog bites it over and over. This style of toys are great but only if you can tolerate the noise. Balls, Frisbees and tug toys are excellent for you to be able to get involved with your dog and play with them. You should ensure that you buy toys that are designed for dogs as they are non toxic and safe for them to play with.

Both you and your dog with benefit from giving them dog toys, they are a perfect way for you to bond with your dog and they will be less bored. They will love playing on their own with the toys and when you return home then you can play as well. You have to care for your dog well when you own one and this involves all elements from their health to their exercise program. By helping those to play and be less bored then you are displaying great pet ownership and you can be proud that you are looking after your dog well.

Please give a small donation before you leave to help fight against animal cruelty . Help us to save the dogs who have been abanoned and need food and shelter and most of all Love. Thank you

Many Home Remedies are better then what you buy at the store

Many loving dog owners today have turned to natural home remedies for dogs as an alternative to using questionable and possibly dangerous commercial products.

Many of these natural home remedies for dogs are quite easy to obtain. For example, do you have garlic in your kitchen? Most people do and use it to cook up tasty dishes but never consider that it is an effective flea repellant.
What about mineral oil, olive oil or almond oil? These are also common household items that can be used for a variety of different purposes. Did you know that they are also effective for treating ear infections or ear mites in dogs?
Do you treat your own skin with Vitamin E? It's a common way to soothe irritated and dry skin. If your dog suffers from irritated skin as a result of allergies, try applying a bit to their skin to see rapid improvement

Be sure to take good care of your dogs in return they will bring you much joy and happiness and also be kind to strays on the street. Stop and give a little of your time by giving them somthing to eat. Carry a bag of dog food in yor car and when you see a hungry dog stop and give him a bite to eat and belive me you will feel better about yourself and tht dog will greatly appreciate your kindness. IF you can please give a donation here to help feed and shelter so many stray dogs we care for we can use your help is it to much to ask you to hellp make these abandoned dogs lives better. IF you love dogs and own a dog and hate animal cruelty then open your hearts and don't leave without giving a donation to help save a dogs life. We really need your help we ae running low on dog food and hope you will help us out and come to our rescue..Thank you Lilyruth

Poem for New Pet Owners

Don't smell crotches, don't eat plants, Don't steal food or underpants. Don't eat my socks; don't grab my hair,,, DON'T RIP THE STUFFING FROM THAT CHAIR!!

Don't eat those peas, don't touch that bush, Don't chew my shoes, what IS this mush!?! Eat your cookies, drink your drink, Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!

AWAY FROM THE LITER BOX, IT'S FOR THE CAT! (and must you kiss me after that!?!) Raising a puppy is not for the lazy, Those rugrats are funny, but also quite crazy.

Don't despair through the toil and the strife. "Cause after three years you'll get back your life! So lets go for walkies, so you can do your "thing" And maybe I'll get back my diamond ring!

Why Own A Dog?

Why own a dog? There's danger you know,

You can't own just one, the craving will grow.

There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger,

While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger.

One dog is so funny, and two are no trouble,

The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey.

the fifth's delightful, the sixth one's a breeze,

You find you can live with a house full with ease.

So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?

They're really quite easy, but Lord, the hair.

With dogs on the sofa, and dogs on the bed,

And crates in the kitchen, it's no bother, you've said.

They're really no trouble, their manners are great.

What's just one more dog, and one more crate?

The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty,

The floor is all footprints, the furniture is dusty,

The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?

Who minds a few nose prints, and a little more hair?

So let's keep a puppy, you can always find room,

And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.

There's hardly a limit to the dogs you can add,

The thought of a cutback sure makes you sad.

Each one is so special, so useful, so funny,

The Vet, the food bills grow larger, you owe money,

Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,

Except other dog folks, who live the same way.

Your lawn has now died, and your shrubs are dead too,

But your weekends are busy, you're off with the crew.

There's dog food and vitamins, and training and shots,

And entries and motels which cost lots.

Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?

Then your favorite dog comes and climbs in your lap.

His look says your special, and you know that you will,

Keep all of the critters, in spite of the bills.

"DANGER! BEWARE OF DOG"

Upon entering the little country store, the stranger noticed a sign saying "DANGER! BEWARE OF DOG!" posted on the glass door. Inside he noticed a harmless old hound dog asleep on the floor besides the cash register.

He asked the store manager, "Is THAT the dog folks are supposed to beware of?"

"Yep, that's him," he replied.

The stranger couldn't help but be amused. "That certainly doesn't look like a dangerous dog to me. Why in the world would you post that sign?"

"Because," the owner replied, "before I posted that sign, people kept tripping over him."

How to Clean your Dogs Ears

Many dogs do not like having their ears cleaned, which makes doing a good job very difficult. It is helpful, before you even begin cleaning your dog's ears that you learn how to make this grooming experience pleasurable for your dog.

Handling Your Dog's Ears

Practice handling your dog's ears gently. Give delicious treats while you massage the outside of and eventually the inside of the ear. Repeat this until your dog really enjoys having his ears handled. Once your dog accepts all kinds of ear manipulation with your hands, repeat the procedure using a cloth and then with cotton balls.

Your Dog's Ears

Dogs with heavy, floppy ears generally need to have their ears cleaned more frequently than dogs with prick ears (which stand upright and allow for better air circulation), and dogs that have a lot of hair in the inside of their ears may require additional maintenance (increased cleaning and for some, plucking of hair growing in the ear).

If your dog is itching his ears a lot, if the ears smell funny, are very red or inflamed, if your dog is constantly shaking his head, it is best to visit your veterinarian as these may be indications of an existing ear infection or other ear problem.

Cleaning Your Dog's Ears

Frequent ear cleanings (weekly) will keep the ears free of wax and debris, and will also allow you to understand what your dog's ears look like when they are healthy. This enables you to more easily recognize any abnormalities in the ear should they arise.

Consult with your veterinarian about recommended dog ear cleaning products. To clean your dog's ears well, you will need an appropriate ear cleaner, a number of cotton balls, and if possible, a helper - someone who can feed the dog treats and keep him calm during the process.

Some dogs have a lot of hair on the inside of the ear. This hair can serve as a reservoir for dirt, debris, and accumulations of earwax. Ask your veterinarian or groomer whether plucking is recommended for your dog. Plucking takes a bit of skill and finesse and can cause discomfort when done incorrectly, so is best left to professionals who have experience on plucking ear hair in dogs. Watch your vet or groomer closely as they pluck the dog's ears, asking any questions you may have about the procedure. Be well prepared with some yummy treats while the vet is plucking the ears, to make this a positive experience for your dog.

Once the ears are free of hair, it is time to begin cleaning. Wash your hands well before and after ear cleaning, and have your supplies ready.

Squirt a small amount of ear cleaning solution into the ear canal. Do not force the nozzle of the bottle into the ear canal as you can cause significant damage this way - only the tip of the bottle should be inserted into the canal. Once you have the solution in the ear, massage the base of the ear to encourage distribution throughout the canal. Be prepared for your dog to shake his head after you apply the solution.

Take a cotton ball and rub the inside of the ear to remove any discharge or any accumulated wax. You may use a Q-tip to get in the crevices at the base of the ear, but do not insert the Q-tip into the ear canal itself. When the base of the ear is clean, you may use soaked cotton balls or a soaked wet cloth to clean the ear flap out toward the tip.

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University has published great how-to instructions with photos. The restraint methods shown at the top of the article will likely be unnecessary if you have trained your dog to love having his ears manipulated in advance.

If your dog will not tolerate ear cleaning or if you are unsure of how to go about cleaning your dog's ears, you may want to consult with your veterinarian and have her do the cleaning for you. It's always easiest to learn a new skill if you have someone well experienced in its practice to coach and guide you so that you can learn the correct way to implement the task. It is also worth finding a experienced behavioral professional to help you out with tips for how you can train your dog to be more accepting of husbandry techniques including ear cleaning.

Top Dog Breeds for People with Allergies

Individuals with pet allergies are not actually allergic to cat, dog, hamster, rabbit, or horse hair but to the dander that each animal sheds. Dander in furry animals is similar to dandruff in humans and even animals that do not shed fur shed dander into the environment.

Hypoallergenic Dogs

Most allergy specialists will recommend that individuals with pet allergies do not bring furry, dander-producing pets into their home. This is well-intended and sound advice - are dogs "good" for allergy sufferers? Physically, no. Allergy sufferers would likely be more physically comfortable not sharing their home with a furry pet. For allergy sufferers with mild to moderate reactions, the emotional benefits of having a pet trump the physical discomfort or a runny nose, sneezing, or itchy eyes. Individuals with severe allergic reaction should heed their allergist's warning and avoid adopting a furry pet.

If you're one who will not be dissuaded, there are breeds which tend to produce relatively low-allergen dogs. Generally, these breeds are characterized by an assortment of coat types - very curly coated dogs (ex. Poodles of all sizes, Portuguese Water Dogs, Bedlington Terriers, Bichon Frises), hairless dogs (ex. American Crested, Chinese Crested Hairless), corded dogs (ex. Puli, Komondor, poodles), and wirehaired dogs (Wirehaired Fox Terrier, Broken Coat Parson/Jack Russell Terrier, Wirehaired Dachshund, Rough Coat Brussels Griffon, etc.). These breeds tend to have less fur than other breeds, but more importantly, generally shed less dander.

The curly-coated and corded dogs require significant grooming commitments. Many of these breeds are high energy and can be challenging - they require a lot of physical and mental stimulation to live happily in a home. Many of them require experienced dog owners and are not good "getting your dog ownership feet wet" breeds.

If you choose to bring a pet into the home despite the inevitable allergy symptoms, consult with your allergist about appropriate air filters and vacuums - clean frequently and thoroughly. Keep your dog out of the bedroom at all times. Bathe your dog once every four weeks using anti-allergenic shampoos. Ask your allergist about cleaning products that can help reduce the allergens in the home.

Many allergists will recommend that the dog should live outside. Virtually every behavior expert would strongly disagree. Dogs are social creatures and desire companionship. Your dog would much rather live in your house than in your yard, and relegating him to the backyard may produce any number of unwanted behaviors, including but not limited to: barking, digging, destruction of property; and are also subject to injury, poisoning, attacks by other dogs or wild animals and even unscrupulous humans. If you get a dog, make him part of your family by allowing him to live inside.

Doodles And Poos

Often, the designer dog craze, which revolves around mixing a poodle with nearly every other breed on the planet to play on the heartstrings and wallets of allergy sufferers seeking hypoallergenic dogs, is misleading to potential pet owners. Do not assume that mixed breeds with one poodle parent will automatically be low-allergen dogs.

Breeders of mixed breed dogs should be held to the same high standards as any breeders - insist on health checks appropriate to both parent breeds, meet both parents if possible (and the mother at a minimum), view the areas where the puppies will be whelped, ask for detailed descriptions of the type of socialization the puppies are provided with, look for breed-appropriate titles and conformation championships.

The Future Of Hypoallergenic Pets

Science has also taken notice of the pet-owning/allergy-suffering quandary. A company called allerca has created what they call "lifestyle pets." Allerca has allegedly produced the world's first "scientifically proven hypoallergenic cats and dogs." For as "little" as $5,000 (this is a special, limited time price) and as much as $16,000, you can bring one of these lifestyle pets into your home.

Obtaining one of these pets involves a 9-12 month wait list at this time. While these prices are out of reach for many pet allergy sufferers, the fact that this type of research is being done bodes well for the future of allergy sufferers who are also animal lovers. Perhaps someday, truly hypoallergenic pets will be available to individuals with dog and cat allergies.

Until then, there are a number of low-allergen dog breeds that are worth considering. Careful research will help you decide which breed is the best match for your family. Once you bring your new pet home, meticulous cleaning to remove dander from the environment, as well as allergy medication prescribed by your allergist, and keeping your dog's coat clean and healthy will help keep the sneezing, wheezing, and red, itchy eyes to a minimum. Does Your Dog Suffer from Anxiety Attacks?

Four-legged animals are as inclined to experience stress as their two-legged owners. While your dog won’t labour over where his next meal will come from, he may wrestle with his own fears and anxieties. Fear may be associated with a particular person or gender, or a specific situation, such as a visit to the veterinarian’s office. Dogs may become anxious when their owners are away, when they hear certain noises such as thunder or fireworks, when a new pet enters the house or an animal companion dies.

Eliminating the cause is the first step in preventing your dog’s anxiety attacks. If your dog runs under the bed during a thunderstorm, the source of the stress is clear, but sometimes the cause of the stress is more difficult to determine.
To help a nervous pet, try some of these tension-easing tips.:

1. If your dog has a fear of thunder or fireworks, desensitising your pet is almost impossible. Instead, provide a place in your home away from windows and doors in which he can wait out the storm and keep a radio on to help drown out the sounds of the thunder or fireworks.
2. If your dog experiences anxiety over a new pet addition to the home, introduce the animals gradually.

3. Dogs may experience stress at being left alone. Consider the option of adopting or purchasing a second dog to keep your existing dog company.

4. If your dog seems anxious when you are away even for short periods of time, leave the television or a radio on.
5. If your dog becomes stressed because you are moving to a new home, take him to your new home before you move in, if possible, and allow him to investigate the surroundings. Give your dog some treats or play with him in the new home so he will associate something positive with the experience.
6. If the appearance of a new baby or new spouse in your home is making your dog anxious, try to keep things as normal as possible. Stick to your dog’s regular schedule and give him plenty of attention.
7. If your dog grieves due to the loss of an animal companion, give him plenty of love and affection. After some time passes, consider a new animal playmate.

Home Remedy Cure for the Manage for your Dog

Published by lilyruth under Dog tips, first aide for dogs, dog grooming, dog training, home remedies, fleas, dogs,
The best cure for dog mange is to mix a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution with water and add borax.Dissolve thoroughly. Wash the dog with it once a week. Do Not Wash the solution left on the dog with ANY WATER. Do not wipe the dog dry. The solution will take effect on mange. The treatment period should not be longer than a month or two. The dog will probably not be resistant as the treatment is painless. This has worked well on dogs I have tried it on. A definitive recipe is add 1-2 tablespoon of borax per 500 cc of 1% hydrogen peroxide solution. plus two parts of water. Then apply them on the dog. Wash with this solution daily, no rinsing. If it doesn’t go away, I have found mites, or mange to have a large beehive hidden somewhere. In case, quarantine the dog in a small area that is sterile. The borax will destroy the eggs from laying under the skin which causes the mange. Get some solution and spray or use this to wipe all floors so the dog will not get re infected. Repeat this every week when bathing. The solution should be applied after you shampoo and rinse your dog. . You cannot rinse the dog of borax and peroxide solution with any shampoo or water. After bathing the dog, keep the dog that way no drying no rinsing. Keep in mind Borax is added directly to the1% hydrogen peroxide solution and no water is added separately, otherwise the solution is too weak. If the mange returns then see your Vet.  Please be sure to give a small donation to help buy food and give shelter to these stray dogs who have no home and I have taken in and care for them to give them a better life then they had before. I need help so please its Christmas time, time to share your blessings and give to those who cannot help themselves are speak up for themselves. I beg of you all to please give something to mke their Christmas a Happy one even if its just this specil time of the year. All you do is click on the DONATE button here on this site and thats it. Please open your hearts if you hate animal cruelty and love dogs and animals help me to help them. Its hard to do it alone and Im ill and am having personal problems of my own but I still do not give up hope that some of you out there will hear my cry for help!!! God Bless you all and please also remember me in your prayers that this pain in my back will go away at least for a few days if not forever. Keep the faith for it is all we have...The end of days is coming nd keep in mind that you cannot take anything with you not your money nor your home nor any of your possessions all you take is the dirt your buried with if your lucky to even take that. So give and let your name stand out in The Good Book at judgement day. Something as small as donationg some money to feed and give shelter to save dogs may seem unimportant now but believe me it will place a big shining star beside your name in the good book. Think about this and don't put it off and wait till tomorrow for you don't know if you may wake up or not tomorrow. Do this now and feel good about yourself now. Be ready I know Iam.. I have very little but thanks to God I share the little I have and I even accept the trial and pain he sets before me for whatever reason he may have at times I wish to question him and ask WHY? but then I think about it asnd it is not for me to ask but to trust and accept .  I know tho at the end my reward will be waiting for me. Its Sad and Disgusting to be Forgotten

Today Im going to open my heart up to you all and hope you will have understanding and compassion.. I just read an article posted at 30something and searching. today.com the title was titled Disgusted and it was about this grandmothers 90th Birthday and she has a brother who has never bothered to send her a Birthday card. So of course the rest of her family were disgusted about it. So of course I left a comment and wished her a Happy Birthday even tho she does not know me I still wanted her to know that this stranger cares and does understand and that I hope she lives to see her next birthday. As for that person Im also disgusted with that lowlife . Gosh just a few minutes of time to send a card to show he cares is all it takes. I know it hurts her to be forgotten by him but she should not miss him with all the love that the rest of her family showers on her.... You all just continue to love her and show her you care and hopefully this will make up for her disappointment. One day tho he will come around but by then it will be to late and believe me he will never be able to forgive himself and he will realize the wonderful lady he missed sharing his time with. I know exactly how she feels for Im in the same situation with my daughter and it does hurt to be forgotten by your own flesh and blood . I try not to think about it but its always there in the back of my heart...No cards on my birthday, no calls, no nothing and I even still took it upon myself to write and ask her for help because I have a spine disease called scoliousous my spine is crooked and I walk sort of hunchback going like sideways and eventually I will no longer be able to use my legs so I told her about my poor health and how blogging makes me feel Im doing some good to help care and feed and shelter these stray dogs I take in my small shelter . I told her I blog for donations because I love animals and they cannot help themselves and they need me, but my computer is breaking down on me and I need to get another one prefer a laptop so I can lay down and prop up with pillows because it hurts my back when I sit blogging for a period of time. The pain is to much for me.,and propped up on pillows I can still do my blogging I told her it did not even have to be a new one for her to share her good fortune and send me money to get a laptop or just mail me one. What Happpen as always she ignored my letters. I was desperate and this is why I wrote to her because I thought after so many years when she ws already grown Id sent her money when she was in need so I thought being this was the first time I asked her for help to get a laptop computer to do what I enjoy she would help out. I was disappointed and cried my eyes out when she did not even bother to answer. But I shall not give up I shall ask for donations on my blogs and explain to my readers and maybe some of them will go to http://dogcents.blogspot.com and donate what they can so I can get that laptop to continue to fight to save the dogs. If anyone of you readers care to help me out your help will be greatly appreciate and your kindness shall never be forgotten . Thank you Lilyruth.... @lilruth leave me a message here or contact me at my blogs. I have a blog here at http://dogcents.blogspot.com where you can Donate and I invite you all to visit.  Please Adgitize my ads.Thank you Lilyruth

A DOGS PLEA

A DOGS PLEA

BY:ANONYMOUS

Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no

heart in all the world is more grateful for

kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for

though I might lick your hand between blows,

your patience and understanding will more

quickly teach me the things you would have

me learn. Speak to me often, for your voice

is the world's sweetest music, as you must

know by the fierce wagging of my tail when

your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and

wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no

longer accustomed to bitter elements.

I ask no greater glory than the privilege of

sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep

my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot

tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me

clean food that I may stay well, to romp

and play and do your bidding, to walk by your

side, and stand ready, willing and able to

protect you with my life, should your life

be in danger. And, my friend, when I am

very old, and I no longer enjoy good health,

hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts

to keep me going. I am not having any fun.

Please see that my trusting life is taken

gently, I shall leave this earth knowing with

the last breath I draw that my fate was always

safest in your hands.

Fat Dog could not scratch his own Ears

A dog that was so fat he could not scratch his own ears has shed a third of his body weight after being confiscated from his previous owner.

Fat Bob, thought to have been the heaviest dog in Scotland at 64kg, has been re-homed and put on a strict diet and exercise regime.

Owner, Ralph Dryden from Motherwell, was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering by over-feeding him.

The four-year-old black Labrador has been adopted by a family from Paisley.

The dog piled on the pounds due to a diet of fish suppers and four tins of dog food a day.

He was removed from his previous owner in January after a vet examined him and found him to be "dangerously obese".

The difference in him is amazing, he has got a spring back in his step

New owner
At a hearing at Hamilton Sheriff Court, Dryden was convicted of causing the animal unnecessary suffering.

Sentence was deferred for six months for good behaviour.

Since being re-homed in March, Bob has slimmed down to a lean 41kg thanks to a strict diet and six-mile walks.

New owner Paul McShane said: "Bob had to be lifted into the car when we first got him, he couldn't even walk the distance from the car to the front door of the house.

"He also couldn't climb onto a bed or be trusted on the stairs.

"I was told on some occasions Bob was getting fed four big tins of dog food as well as a fish supper a day."

New owner Paul McShane says the difference in Bob is amazing
He added: "We have been very careful with his diet and have managed to get his weight under control.

"The difference in him is amazing, he has got a spring back in his step."

During the court hearing Dryden claimed the dog was a stray and was already fat when he took it in off the street.

Fiona Greig, from the Scottish SPCA, said: "Sometimes through an owner's ignorance animals can suffer and that's exactly what happened with Bob.

"This was a case of extreme over-feeding, to the point that the vet who examined Bob stated that he was dangerously obese and being caused unnecessary suffering as a result.

"On the positive side, Bob has now been re-homed with a family who are maintaining his diet."

Please be sure to Donate a few dollars here to help feed and give shelter to stray dogs who we take in and care for. Share some of your blessings. Help these dogs have a good thanksgiving day also. And Subscribe to my feeds. Thank you
