Dog Poop led to Mans Arrest
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Dog isn't this man's best friend. Josue Herrios-Coronilla, 18, drove his black Camaro on the wrong side of the road Wednesday and crashed into the yard of man who owns four dogs, police said.
Police found crushed bushes, a damaged fence, an inoperable car - and a fresh shoe print in a pile of dog feces.
Following an odoriferous trail down the street, Sgt. Dale Gunter noticed a white van driving toward him. When he asked the passenger to step out, he noticed the smell of alcohol on the man's breath and evidence all over his shoes.
Herrios-Coronilla was charged with driving while impaired and drinking underage and released on $1,500 bail. He could not immediately be reached for comment. Be sure to leave a small donation to help fight against animal cruelty. Also sign into my Googles Friends Connect and show your our friend.

Many Home Remedies are better then what you buy at the store
Many loving dog owners today have turned to natural home remedies for dogs as an alternative to using questionable and possibly dangerous commercial products.
Do you treat your own skin with Vitamin E? It's a common way to soothe irritated and dry skin. If your dog suffers from irritated skin as a result of allergies, try applying a bit to their skin to see rapid improvement

Signs of Chocolate Toxicity
So, how much is too much? Dark cooking chocolate has more toxic ingredients than either milk chocolate or white chocolate, and unsweetened baking chocolate has most of all. Eight ounces of milk chocolate is enough to potentially kill a 10-pound dog.
If Your Dog Eats Chocolate
If you suspect your dog has stolen some chocolate, give your veterinarian a call with information on your dog’s body weight, the quantity of chocolate that is missing, and what type of chocolate it is. She will be able to work out how much caffeine and theobromine has been eaten, and whether or not your dog is likely to become sick. Treatment is basically supportive until your dog recovers – intravenous fluids, activated charcoal and muscle relaxants to control any tremors or seizures.
Alternate Treats
There are some treats that are safe to give your dog at Easter. Carob is not at all dangerous to dogs, and they seem to enjoy it. Alternatively, whip up a batch of home made dog biscuits for him. There are many recipes on the net for delicious biscuits that contain liver and other meat products, and your dog will love them. If you’re pressed for time, pick up a dog treat from the supermarket on your way home from work – he’ll enjoy that too.
Sharing your chocolate with your dog just is not worth the risk to his health. This is one time when it’s a good idea to keep all your chocolate to yourself!

Driver in doghouse after walking pet while in car
March 02, 2010 4:41 PM EST
LONDON (AP) — An English dog-owner has been fined after taking his pet for a stroll while driving next to him in his car.
Prosecutors said Paul Railton was spotted driving at low speed along a country lane in December, holding his dog's leash through the car window as the animal trotted alongside.
Railton pleaded guilty Monday to not being in proper control of a vehicle. His lawyer, Paul Donoghue, said 23-year-old Railton acknowledged "it was a silly thing to do and there was an element of laziness" while exercising his lurcher, a type of crossbred sighthound.
Railton was ordered by magistrates in Consett, northeast England, to pay a 66 pound ($100) fine, plus costs.
He also received three more penalty points on his license and is now barred from driving for six months.

Its a Dog's Life
I Came across this article on guy-sports.com on the internet “its a Dog’s Life “and right away it caught my attention because there was a time when this phrase was used it meant that we were in a bad way. It meant we were not doing so good! It meant life was not good! and that everything was turning out wrong nothing would turn out the way you wanted it to.; Each day was worse then the one before so this is why we said “its a Dog’s Life cause then dogs didn’t have it so easy! Dogs were not dressed up in little cute frilly outfits are leather collars with diamonds . Dogs diid not have soft fluffy beds to sleep in,Or cute clean pretty bowls or dishes to eat their dog food out of andl most dogs slept outside in the cold and rain, And now dogs even sleep in the same bed as their masters! OOPS!! I forgot we don’t even use the word Master anymorel.. Now its Dog Lovers or Dog owners or even Family.(which by the way I prefer those then Master) Nowadays if your living a Dog’s life you have it good!! OOH do not get me wrong their are still alot of dogs out there who still need our help and love and we should give it But what I mean is that Phrase does not have quite the same meaning now then it used to.. SMILE…I read the origin of the catchphrase ‘It’s a Dog’s Life’ is obscure. One of the earliest popular reference is Charlie Chaplin’s 1918 film called ‘A Dog’s Life’. There is also a well known 1955 film by Herman Hoffman, this title include the It’s - ‘It’s a Dog’s Life’.
The phrase is so evocative of the downtrodden hero, that it’s perfect for Charles M. Schulz’s Snoopy. It’s a dog’s life has also inspired music and also T.V. episodes of popular programs such as ‘Murder She Wrote’.
♪10) Is it a Dog’s Life Anymore?
There was a time when dogs weren’t allowed in the house. Dogs were fed scraps and if they were lucky they had a kennels. Thus a whole family of sayings arose around ‘It’s a dogs life’. For example, going to the dogs, dog tired, dog’s dinner, dogsbody and dog eat dog.
HOWEVER, nowadays, dogs have it cushy, they live indoors are pampered with dog food, and even get their own dog basket. In consequence the young generation are perplexed by the saying, ‘It’s a dogs life’.

Dogs Live Here
If you don’t want to be greeted with paws and swinging tails
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t like the feel of a cold nose or a wet tongue,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t want to step over many scattered toys,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you think that a home ought to smell of perfume,
don’t come inside because dogs live here.
If you don’t mind all of this,
you will be instantly loved when you come inside,
because dogs live here.

Excercise, Control and Praise
Training a dog is a little easier if the dog is content. When training a dog, use the following teaching tips:
Provide plenty of exercise
Most important of all, “Praise”. All dogs want to please their owners and that is why praising him is as equally important. Let him know you’re proud of him and he’s doing a great job, then slip him one of his favorite treats.

The Gift of a Dog is not just for Christmas-You don't give a gift then put it on a chain
Twas the night before Christmas
when all thru the house
Not a creature was stirring
not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that St. Nick soon would be there.
The children all nestled snug in their beds
With no thought of the dog filling their head.
And mom in her kerchief and I in my cap
Knew the dog was cold, but didn’t care about that.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Figuring the dog was free of his chain and into the trash.
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But Santa Clause with his eyes full of tears.
He unchained the dog once so lively and quick
Last year’s Christmas present now painfully sick.
More rapid than eagles he called the dog’s name
and the dog ran to him despite all his pain.
Now Dasher, now Dancer, now Prancer and Vixen
On Comet on Cupid on Donner and Blitzen.
To the top of the porch to the top of the wall
Let’s find this dog a home where he will be loved by all.
I knew in an instant there would be no gifts this year
For Santa had made one thing quite clear.
The gift of a dog is not just for the season
We had gotten the dog for all the wrong reasons.
In our haste to think of the kids a gift
There was one important thing we missed
A dog should be family, and cared for the same
You don’t give a gift, then put it on a chain.
And I heard him explain as he rode out of site,
“You weren’t given a gift, you were given a life.”
Share this with your friends... Keep in mind a dog is a precious life to be cherished and love its not a toy to be given at christmas then forgotten and thrown away like the christmas wrappings your presents came in. A dog or puppy is a gift to be loved all year round and not played with only on Christmas day and then chained up. Think before you decide to give such a Christmas present. Don't break this puppy's heart....

Its Sad and Disgusting to be Forgotten
Today Im going to open my heart up to you all and hope you will have understanding and compassion.. I just read an article posted at 30something and searching. today.com the title was titled Disgusted and it was about this grandmothers 90th Birthday and she has a brother who has never bothered to send her a Birthday card. So of course the rest of her family were disgusted about it. So of course I left a comment and wished her a Happy Birthday even tho she does not know me I still wanted her to know that this stranger cares and does understand and that I hope she lives to see her next birthday. As for that person Im also disgusted with that lowlife . Gosh just a few minutes of time to send a card to show he cares is all it takes. I know it hurts her to be forgotten by him but she should not miss him with all the love that the rest of her family showers on her.... You all just continue to love her and show her you care and hopefully this will make up for her disappointment. One day tho he will come around but by then it will be to late and believe me he will never be able to forgive himself and he will realize the wonderful lady he missed sharing his time with. I know exactly how she feels for Im in the same situation with my daughter and it does hurt to be forgotten by your own flesh and blood . I try not to think about it but its always there in the back of my heart...No cards on my birthday, no calls, no nothing and I even still took it upon myself to write and ask her for help because I have a spine disease called scoliousous my spine is crooked and I walk sort of hunchback going like sideways and eventually I will no longer be able to use my legs so I told her about my poor health and how blogging makes me feel Im doing some good to help care and feed and shelter these stray dogs I take in my small shelter . I told her I blog for donations because I love animals and they cannot help themselves and they need me, but my computer is breaking down on me and I need to get another one prefer a laptop so I can lay down and prop up with pillows because it hurts my back when I sit blogging for a period of time. The pain is to much for me.,and propped up on pillows I can still do my blogging I told her it did not even have to be a new one for her to share her good fortune and send me money to get a laptop or just mail me one. What Happpen as always she ignored my letters. I was desperate and this is why I wrote to her because I thought after so many years when she ws already grown Id sent her money when she was in need so I thought being this was the first time I asked her for help to get a laptop computer to do what I enjoy she would help out. I was disappointed and cried my eyes out when she did not even bother to answer. But I shall not give up I shall ask for donations on my blogs and explain to my readers and maybe some of them will go to http://dogcents.blogspot.com and donate what they can so I can get that laptop to continue to fight to save the dogs. If anyone of you readers care to help me out your help will be greatly appreciate and your kindness shall never be forgotten . Thank you Lilyruth.... @lilruth leave me a message here or contact me at my blogs. I have a blog here at http://dogcents.blogspot.com where you can Donate and I invite you all to visit. Happy Halloween
Happy trick or treating!
This costume sure has taken a beating...
Help me! My mask keeps on slipping,
I am a monster who now has trouble seeing...
Look! That yard has ten black cats in it
That have suffered a treeing.
My little sister just got sick,
I told her that raw pumpkins were not for eating!
My stupid cousin jumped over a fire in his ghost costume,
The whole neighborhood heard him screaming!
We put him out, no burns but, his tears are still streaming.
Grandma tried to pass out pumpkin pie for treats...
Now, her yard is toilet papered and gleaming.
My Uncle handed out money,
I have never seen so many kids trick or treat repeating.
That kid that dressed up as Tarzan
is now freezing!
Watch out! The dog that grabbed the cat tail off of that little girl's cat Halloween costume
Is really mean!
I have to go hide all of my candy now,
So my brother won't eat it.
We finally ran out of candy to give out to
All of the trick or treaters that we have been greeting.
I have a stomach ache from eating
More candy than I have ever seen.
Four kids are now hiding under my bed,
Convinced that the wind howling through the trees is a ghost squealing.
One child refused to leave the house, thinking
The lit pumpkin outside will be following...
This is one night
That I won't have any trouble sleeping...........

Young 'should not touch animals'
I read this article in the news and thought you all may find it important and also interesting, I know I did.
Microbiologist warns over petting farms
Parents should not allow under-fives to touch animals at petting farms, a microbiologist has said amid E.coli fears involving four sites.
Prof Hugh Pennington said they were the most likely people to touch animals but the hardest to get to wash their hands.
The Department of Health (DoH) said it was not changing its guidance - contact was okay if good hand hygiene followed.
Two petting farms in Surrey, one in Nottinghamshire and one in Devon have shut attractions owing to E.coli fears.
Prof Pennington said that parents should not "abandon the idea of visiting" petting farms, but they should "think very hard" about letting children under five touch the animals.
Hand-washing was "absolutely crucial" to protect visitors to petting farms, and under-fives "haven't learned how to do it yet".
It's so good for the children - one would hate to get to the stage where we had to stop them doing it
Miranda Stevenson
British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums
"These very young kids are the most likely part of the population to get complications if they get infected," he added.
But the DoH said its advice remained the same - children could pet animals but should practice good hand hygiene.
"Direct contact is not what presents the risk, it's what happens afterwards. If you use good hand hygiene and other measures, you hopefully shouldn't get it," a spokesperson said.
"Ill health following a visit to an open farm is unusual, even among children, and these risks need to be balanced against the benefits for a child's education and development that arise from contact with animals."
Current guidance was under review following the recent E.coli outbreaks, the spokesperson added.
And Miranda Stevenson, director of the British & Irish Association of Zoos & Aquariums, said there were strict licensing regulations for zoos and there were always either gels or washing facilities were animals could be handled.
"The message to parents is to make sure that children wash their hands or put gel on their hands, after they have handled animals," she said.
"It's so good for the children - one would hate to get to the stage where we had to stop them doing it."
Closed voluntarily
Hundreds of members of the public have e-mailed the BBC News website with the majority expressing opposition to a ban on the petting of animals.
Forty-nine cases of E.coli have been linked to a Surrey farm
Prof Ron Cutler, an expert on infectious diseases at Queen Mary University of London, said more needed to be done to enable children to keep visiting petting farms and zoos.
Operators should think about giving visitors nail brushes to clean their hands after touching animals, he said.
Prof Pennington, who has led inquiries into E.coli outbreaks in central Scotland and south Wales, said: "Clearly I think the public expects that we have a really good look at the guidelines.
"And also to look at the way the guidelines are being implemented - it's all very well having guidelines if people are not following them."
World of Country Life, in Exmouth, Devon, voluntarily closed its petting areas and deer train ride following infections in three children who visited the farm last month - although the farm has not been confirmed as the source.
Rare strain
Four people became infected after visiting White Post Farm at Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire, though no direct link has been confirmed there.
Forty-nine cases of E.coli have been linked to Godstone Farm in Surrey, with its sister farm - Horton Park Children's Farm in Epsom - also closing because of hygiene concerns.
HAVE YOUR SAY To stop toddlers from being able to interact with animals is madness
Jenny Davies, Poole
Read your comments The Health Protection Agency says that, while infection risks are reduced by sites being well regulated and run, there would always be some E.coli risk from farm animals and their environment.
Whether to stay away from such attractions is "a decision for parents based on a balance of risks", its advice says.
Nine children are being treated in hospital with Godstone Farm-linked infections; one is due to be allowed home later on Saturday, with the others remaining in a stable condition, according to the HPA.
Lab tests have identified the most serious E.coli strain, 0157, which can cause serious kidney damage in a small proportion of cases.
There are about 20,000 cases of E.coli reported in England, Wales and Northern Ireland every year but last year just 950 cases in England and Wales were the 0157 strain.

Man nabbed after trying to 'scare' lesson into cat
I read this in the news and wanted to show you how cruel and stupid some people can be towards helpless animals. I hope you agree with me that this man got less then he deserved.
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A Boynton Beach man was trying to teach his cat a lesson when he fired his gun, but the efforts landed him in jail. Police said a 43-year-old man was upset that his cat used his bed instead of a litter box. So he took the cat to the garage and fired a handgun into a flotation device to "scare it." The cat was not injured, but the man was charged with shooting in an occupied dwelling and using a firearm while under the influence.
He's being held on a $5,000 bond.

Hero Dog's tale to become a Film
I came across this inspiring story about a man who was at the end of his rope and a dog. This dog gave this man the strength to come back into the world of the living and who gave him hope. I just love stories like this and I do hope they make it into a film so that I and you all who love animals can see the wonderous things these gentle dogs can do. Oh Id also love to see Brad Pitt play the part Smile or my favorite Johhy Depp. I know who ever plays the part it will be a great story to watch. Best of luck with the film . I only wish Directors and stars would make more film like these. I love a good dog film... I hope you all enjoy this story I fund in the news... Source: Lilyruth
The story of how a labrador dog helped an injured Gulf War veteran rebuild his life is to become a film.
Endal, who died aged 13 in March, looked after Allen Parton, an ex-Royal Navy Chief Petty Officer, who suffered serious injuries in 1991.
The dog was able to respond to more than 200 instructions, such as loading and emptying the washing machine at Mr Parton's home in Clanfield, Hampshire.
Now the rights to Mr Parton's memoirs have been bought by a film producer.
Simon Brooks, who has written and made films such as White Noise with Michael Keaton, bought the rights to the story from publisher Harper Collins.
He saw the story in a Sky documentary about eight weeks ago, then discovered Mr Parton and his wife, Sandra, both 50, had written an international best-selling memoir.
He was awarded Dog of the Millennium for being able to put a card in the cash machine and take it out again
Allen Parton
In the book, called Endal, Mr Parton chronicles how the dog helped with his recovery after he spent years in hospital and fell into a coma.
He even saved Mr Parton's life when he fell out of his wheelchair.
Mr Parton told BBC News: "When I couldn't speak, he could read my sign language. He instinctively knew what to do.
"He was awarded Dog of the Millennium for being able to put a card in the cash machine and take it out again. Endal was the help that I needed for the healing process."
When Mr Parton woke from his coma he could not remember marrying his wife or having his children.
'Good therapist'
"Emotionally, I'd lost all contact with my family - I couldn't remember them," he said.
So Mrs Parton suggested they remarried. The couple said Endal played a huge part in bringing them back together.
"Endal was very gentle, nurturing me every day and encouraging me to do things," Mr Parton said.
Endal was able to perform many duties for his owner
"He was a good therapist."
Mr Parton now has a new assistance dog, a 16-month-old puppy called EJ who he says is still "a little bit giggly".
"When Endal went, I thought I was going to be instantly disabled but EJ didn't let that happen."
Mr Parton said it was "absolutely incredible" to have a film made about Endal and joked he wanted to be played by Brad Pitt.
Juliette Towhidi, who wrote Calendar Girls, is writing the script.
Mr Brooks told the BBC: "I caught the last six or seven minutes of the documentary and was enthralled by it and thought that would be a great movie.
"If we're lucky, maybe the film would shoot next summer." Source: The News

Owners warned against pet rescues
Dog owners are being warned of the dangers of entering ponds and rivers after an animal got into difficulty.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue were called to woodland behind Leonardslee Gardens, Lower Beeding, after a woman waded into a 7ft (2m) deep pond to find her dog.
Several fire engines were sent to the scene, but the dog was not found.
Deputy District Commander for Horsham, Marvin Smith, warned people not to put themselves in any unnecessary risk as "dangerous situations can escalate".
"You should always call the emergency services in the first instance," he said.
"We did all we could in this particular situation to locate the missing dog, but unfortunately our efforts were unsuccessful."
The incident happened on Wednesday morning.

Arthritis And Hip Dysplasia in Old Dogs
When it comes to caring for your old dog, Arthritis and Hip Dysplasia may be two of the most difficult diseases for dog owners to contend with. Although both diseases can affect all breeds and sizes, the larger breeds seem to have a higher risk for Hip Dysplasia.
These are very painful diseases and can be distressing for dog owners who often feel helpless. There are several prescription drugs available through your veterinarian that can help your old dog tremendously. Take note that although these drugs will help quickly, unfortunately, they are very hard on your dog's organs just as quickly. Most veterinarians do blood work every six months to monitor animals when placed on non-steroidal drugs.
Unfortunately, there are no cures for Arthritis, Osteoarthritis or Hip Dysplasia. As we all know, prevention is the best cure. Although genetics does play a role, by starting your dog on a whole diet that includes fresh meat and vegetables as early on as possible is critical for preventing and rehabilitation of these diseases.
We have seen tremendous results by feeding our own dogs a fresh diet rich in nutrients and by integrating a component that naturally Renews Synovial Fluid Around The Damaged Joints.
A high potency formula of Glucosamine can often provide much needed comfort and relief for older dogs with full blown arthritis. While the pill form might cost less, it does not have the benefits that a liquid does. Avoid pill forms found at the local supermarket or drug store, they just don't have the potency to do the job.
We did our own research and found an excellent product that we use on our own dogs, however, this glucosamine must be refridgerated for shelf life. It is economically priced at half the cost of most others and you get a larger bottle as well: Now Foods Liquid Glucosamine/Chondroitin 16oz.
If your dog is currently on prescription medications, always inform your veterinarian when adding any new treatment or medicines whether all natural or not.
Tips For Joint Pain And Stiffness In Your Old Dog
Give "Coated" Aspirin such as Ascriptin but NEVER IBUPROFEN or any products that contain Ibuprofen.
A dog bed made specifically for dogs with joint problems.
Purchase doggie stairs or a ramp and never allow him to jump and land on his front legs.
Don't put his bed directly in front of the air conditioner vent.

Hollywood star may visit hero dog

I came across this article and like the owner of the dog Hoff I also wondered why the actor would want to visit the hero dog named after him? Any Comments??

Hollywood star David Hasselhoff has said he wants to visit a canine hero named after him.
Hoff, a Staffordshire bull terrier, made news when he saved his owner Nathan Williams from a burning building in Cinderford, Gloucestershire.
Writing on his blog, the 56-year-old actor, currently filming America's Got Talent in the US, said: "I am trying to get in touch with the owner.
"I would like to congratulate this heroic Hoff in person."
Mr Williams, 29, suffered burns and broken fingers in the fire at his home in the High Street.

Hoff had woken him as the fire took hold of the flat.
Firefighters said he would have died if he had stayed in the flat much longer.
Talking about Mr Hasselhoff's remarks, he said: "I would be up for it," he said. "It would be strange to see him in Cinderford.
"I can't really understand why he would want to meet me, I am just a man from Cinderford who had a fire."
Mr Hasselhoff shot to stardom in the 1980s as the star of TV series Knight Rider and later appeared for several years in Baywatch
