Sea Dog's Adventure gets him in Trouble

A dog with a taste for adventure has been reunited with its owner after its exploits left it stranded on a cliff ledge for eight days.
Heidi, a doberman, ran away from her family home in Islandmagee more than a week ago after her owner, Joan Moore, let her go outside.

Her husband, Ian, said they immediately began looking for their missing pet and put flyers in local shops.

"I think the family was convinced we would not see her again," he said.

However, the family's and Heidi's luck took a turn for the better after a canoeist spotted the forlorn pooch stranded on a cliff ledge 60ft below the clifftop.

Ian Murdoch, from the Coastguard, said a member of their team had heard that the Moore's dog was missing.


"We got a report from a canoeist that a dog had been spotted trapped on the cliffs in the Portmuck area," he said.

Reunion

"So we sent down a cliff team to have a look and investigate, we sent Larne Lifeboat around as well.

"We did locate the dog, we contacted the owners to find out the temperament of the animal.

"They said it was a quiet animal so we sent a man down who lowered the dog into the lifeboat and into safe hands and its very grateful owners."

Mrs Moore said it was fantastic to get her back home again.

"It was great just to see her wee face, she was jumping up and bouncing all over. She was so excited to see us as well," she said.

"She is very thin compared to what she was, she has lost an awful lot of weight."

Heidi's next trip is to the vet for a check-up. Source:News

Kiefer Sutherland Action Hero Scared of Lap Dogs

The '24' star recoiled in terror when a fan recently approached him in a Beverly Hills restaurant carrying a tiny Yorkshire Terrier to ask him for an autograph.

A source told the National Enquirer magazine: "When Kiefer jumped the pooch went berserk, growling, yapping and snapping.

"The lady giggled and told him, 'He doesn't bite.'"

Kiefer replied: "I'm sure, but let's not take the chance. I'll give you the autograph, but why don't you and your doggie go back to your table."

The action hero then signed a napkin the woman had brought over and got a waiter to deliver it to her table.

Meanwhile, Kiefer has confessed he sabotaged the release of his own action figure after setting fire to the prototype on a drunken night out.

Man's Best Friend- Heidi

In 2001, a Jack Russell terrier named Heidi scrambled down a 500-foot drop to get to her owner, Graham Snell. Snell had fallen off the cliff while hiking and died instantly. Heidi stayed by her master's side for two days until rescue teams finally found them.

T-V show Actress Breaks Down In Front OF Audience

comedian Ellen DeGeneres broke down in tears on her own show when she revealed that a dog she had adopted, then given to her hairdresser, had been reclaimed and re-homed by the group that originally had the dog.

DeGeneres explained that due to having cats in her home, the dog did not seem to settle in well after she had adopted him. She gave the dog to her hairdresser.

When the rescue centre in question Mutts and Moms, found out about the decision to re-home the dog, they took action and reclaimed the dog, before re-homing it with a family of their choosing. It is believed that the contract between the veteran comedian and the rescue agency stated that if she was unable to keep the dog, she would return it to the rescue. The hairdresser's two children were reportedly distraught at having their new puppy removed from their home.

Ellen explained her sombre mood to the audience on her show

“I’m a human being and I have bad days and I have sad days. But when I walk out here and you all cheer and when you’re here to dance, you’re here to laugh, and I know I make people happy it changes my mood. I come out here and I can do anything because of the energy I get. But today is a hard day for me. Today is bad. I am not capable of coming out and pretending to be funny and ‘on’ when things are going so terribly wrong right now. I’m so sorry - I’m just not able to pretend.”

“Well, I guess I signed a piece of paper that says if I can’t keep Iggy, it goes back to the rescue organisation, which is not someone’s home, which is not a family. These two little girls had bonded to the dog. I thought I did a good thing. I tried to find a loving home for the dog because I couldn’t keep it. I was trying to do a good thing.

Because I did it wrong, those people went and took that dog out of their home, and took it away from those kids. I feel totally responsible for it and I’m so sorry. I’m begging them to give that dog back to that family. I just want the family to have their dog. It’s not their fault, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have given the dog away. Just please give the dog back to those little girls. I’m sorry I didn’t call you. I’m sorry I did the wrong thing. Just give it back to the family. Please, please, please."

Owners of Mutts and Moms Marina Batkis and Vanessa Chekroun had for DeGeneres have reportedly received death threats since the show screened and communicating through a lawyer that the dog will not be returned.

I ran across this story in the K9 magazine and I thought it was cute so I decided to share it with you all I do hope you find it enjoyable, its about, US solo artist and former boyband member Justin Timberlake has revealed how much he is devoted to his two dogs, Buckley and Brennen.
Timberlake, in a UK magazine interview set the record straight on how much companionship he relies on from his pet Boxers as he shot down the suggestion of settling down with current girlfriend, Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz.
The heartthrob (25) explains he has no plans to settle down with Diaz or anyone else at this stage in his life as his two dogs are all he needs.
He tells GQ Magazine: "Men are monkeys, man. As for marriage and so on, I have my two dogs for kids so you should ask them how I'm doing! Never say never, but why ruin a good thing?"Timberlake also revealed in a seperate interview that his best ever kiss was by Boxer, Buckley. Close your ears Cameron and Britney!

Don't leave your pet out in the yard on Halloween: There are plenty of stories of pranksters on this night.
Trick-or-treat candies are not for pets: Chocolate is poisonous to a lot of animals. Tin foil and candy wrappers can be hazardous if swallowed.
Be careful of pets around a lit pumpkin: Pets may knock it over and cause a fire. Curious kittens especially run the risk of getting burned.
Don't dress the dog in costume unless you know he loves it. Otherwise, it puts a lot of stress on the animal.
If you do dress up your dog, make sure the costume isn't constricting, annoying or unsafe. Be careful not to obstruct their vision and get your dog used to wearing his/her costume before the actual date of Halloween.
All but the most social dogs should be kept in a separate room during trick-or-treat visiting hours; many strangers in strange garb can be scary for a dog.
Be careful your cat or dog doesn't dart out through the open door.
Walk your dog early in the night, before it gets dark.

Car thieves make off with pet dog

A disabled man was left devastated when thieves made off with his car and unwittingly stole his pet dog.
The 59-year-old man was using a sunbed when his jacket containing his car keys was stolen from a coat hook in the tanning shop in Poole, Dorset.
His silver Vauxhall Zafira was then taken from a car park behind the shop on Commercial Road, in the Parkstone, area at about 1100 BST on Tuesday.
Police are now trying to trace the car and the black and white Jack Russell.

Pc Liz Renshaw, of Dorset Police, said: "The victim is understandably shocked and devastated and just wants his dog returned.
"He is a single man and his dog is his only companion."
The six-year-old dog was described as long-haired and "looking shaggy".
The man, who has not been named, is from Poole and has difficulty walking.
Police would like to speak to two men who were seen in the Sunsational tanning shop around the time of the theft.
The first man is described as white, 5'10" tall, of stocky build, aged in his mid-20s, and was wearing a cap and had a dark coloured beard.

Greyfriar Bobby loyal to his master even after death

Friends: everytime I read about this story it brings tears to my eyes . Even after his best friend had died he refused to leave his side come rain or shine he laid there near him. His friends grave was now his home and he was happy til the day he died just to be near his friend. This little dog was truely loyal to his master and ppossed a love that would not die even after his master and friend had gone to their grave. Here I shall tell you a bit of what I know about the story of this little dog whos love for his friend and master went beyond death... John Gray died on February 8, 1858 in Edinburgh, Scotland, leaving very little behind except for a little Skye terrier named Bobby. The day after the burial, the curator noticed Bobby lying on the fresh mound of dirt. He immediately chased the little dog away, but the next day he was back. Again, the curator chased him day, but on the third day-despite the cold and the rain-Bobby was back. Finally, the curator took pity on the poor dog and allowed him to stay.


For the next fourteen years, Bobby kept constant watch over his owner's grave, rarely leaving except to take his noontime meal at exactly one o'clock. After a while, he came to be known as Greyfriars Bobby, after the cemetery in which his master was buried.

Bobby outlasted his master by fourteen years. When he died, he was buried just inside the gate at Greyfriars Kirkyard. He could not be buried with his master because it was consecrated ground. His headstone reads, "Greyfriars Bobby - died 14th January 1872 - aged 16 years - Let his loyalty and devotion be a lesson to us all."

Greyfriars Bobby may be gone, but he has not been forgotten. Shortly after his passing, a statue was resurrected in his honor. His story was also passed down and eventually a fictional version of the tale was published in a book titled Greyfriars Bobby by Eleanor Atkinson. In 1961, the book was made into a movie titled Greyfriars Bobby: The True Story of a Dog. Another movie was released in 2006 titled The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby and starred Oliver Golding and Christopher Lee.

RAMAPO, N.Y. - Every dog has its day, and for those in this suburban town it's Sept. 9: That's when the pooches will have a pool party.
For the fourth year, Ramapo will mark the end of the dog days of summer with a canine swim at the town pools at the Spook Rock Park.
The event raises money for animal care, educates people about dogs, and gives the dogs a chance to have some doggone fun, organizers said Monday.
More than 250 dogs took a dip at last year's event, called the Dog Days of Summer K-9 Pool Party. Smaller dogs used the kiddie pool, while larger dogs used the main pool.
The town stopped the pools' chlorine treatment before the event because it couldn't figure out a way to keep the dogs from drinking the water. Humans weren't allowed in while the dogs were swimming.

Chico is thought to have sat next to Mr Devine for two or three daysPolice investigating the murder of a man in a Glasgow park have questioned dozens of local people in a bid to identify his killer.
John Devine's body was found in bushes in Glasgow's Cowlairs Park on 16 July.
His dog Chico is believed to have sat next to his lifeless body for two or three days before returning home and being taken in by a neighbour.
Detectives stopped and quizzed motorists and pedestrians in the Saracen area of the city on Tuesday.
The interviews in Saracen Street, Keppochhill Road and Cowlairs Park took place exactly four weeks after 45-year-old Mr Devine, who was known as Jake, was seen for the last time walking into the park.
His body was only found after a member of the public noticed that Chico, a Staffordshire bull terrier cross, was no longer in the park and went to see what had been attracting the dog's attention.

Strathclyde Police said Mr Devine was seen in Parkhead Forge in Glasgow at about 1430 BST on Tuesday 10 July. He was later seen entering Cowlairs Park at about 2030 BST on the same day.
It is not known whether he was killed that night or after returning at a later date.
Det Ch Insp Ricky Mason, who is leading the investigation, said he hoped that speaking to pedestrians and motorists who travel the same route every night might jog their memories.
He added: "They may, unwittingly, have seen something that could prove vital to this investigation.
"A mobile police office will be sited at the entrance to the park and I would encourage members of the public to go in and speak to the officers.
"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen Mr Devine in the Saracen or Royston areas or has any information regarding his movements since the afternoon of Tuesday 10 July to come forward."
Det Ch Insp Mason also appealed for dog walkers who use the park or may have seen Mr Devine or Chico in the days leading up to the discovery of the body to contact the police.
